Past actions are taken into account during future encounters.Ĭons: Biggest is stability. Exploration, traps, puzzles, and plots are mostly well developed. Nonlinear gameplay! Decent graphics that take into account character abilities. However, the random drops are still there and honestly it just is not worth $60 to beta test a game that they still have not gotten stable after way too long as an "Early access game". ![]() The new updates are nice and adds allot of flavor to the game. Got tired of WOW (again) and Raid Shadow legends last week so brushed it off and started with a Sorcerer. Each time you had to start from your last save. Was going to do a thief but honestly the random drops got too obnoxious. Played it all the way through (what is available) with a Cleric and a wizard. Less bugs, fully fleshed out pathways, etc.īought early access when it first came out. More exploits will be patched out so you can actually plan viable builds, there wont be a level cap so you can be rewarded for squeezing out exp, as you would if you were playing tactician haha. ![]() If you can help it though, I think waiting for the full game is the way to go. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and can hardly contain myself from exploring everything since I do want to leave some surprise in act 1, in case my friends happen to pick up the full game. The companions even quip with eachother now, i love it. ![]() Far more voice acting, cinematics, consequences/pathways for evil playstyle - in nearly every regard outside of combat, which is arguably different, not better or worse, larian have improved the game from dos2. But less video game power fantasy tucked away behind game knowledge? I think soĪll of this to say that bg3 is not dos3. More balanced since the intention is people making a journey together? Yes. Power fantasy is there but its sorta squashed down. And more reliant on factors outside your control. That is not to say you wont find good gear later on too, but its … a different kind of strength than dos2. A lot of op builds currently rely on abusing things that may get patched out, like poor enemy ai response to stealth, or are dependent on rare items, that may not scale well. As i mentioned earlier, it has hard limits on spell usage, relative to dos2. I liked that power fantasy hahaīg3 has no crafting (outside like 2 recipes). There are so many ways to make yourself stronger, and being aware of them all made you a god. With every playthrough i discovered more mechanics - crafting, combined spell books (esp early on is op), gear, spell combos. Bg3 is more reactionary? Since you cant manipulate turn order or move enemies well (or multiple times without RESTing), its less video gamey and more limited in your options.ĭos2 felt like an onion to me. With careful turn order, and spells like nether swap/teleport, you could unleash some insane spells, that really felt epic and rewarded that planning. So it feels far more limiting compared to dos2, where even early on with opportunist you could be slaying 3 foes as a ranger with high ground. Sure, you can scrounge food and rest frequently but doing so really ruins the flow to me and clashes with my hoarder/aversion-for-relying-on-consumables mentality. Rng and spell slots means you can only perform cool spell combos a handful of times before having to rest, and they might not even work. So far, most classes can only attack once per turn. So while combat was sped up (turn efficiency wise), it seemed slower since there was so much more missing and auto attacking. The game is not a divinity game, it follows dnd rules. At first, i was seriously disappointed with the combat. I came into bg3, never having played dnd or bg1/2, but smitten with dos2. Overwhelming positive posts so just to play devils advocate, i guess i will offer something that initially bothered me ![]()
